Our time:
We drove up wandered around Bushmills. Nothing like the smell of whiskey in the morning. We quickly left and then drove to the Giants Causeway. This is obviously a tourist attraction but the lava formation into the sea was definently a great UNESCO site to visit. Despite what I previously thought, I actually enjoyed the story about the Irish giant building a bridge to fight the Scottish giant. In the story, the Scottish giant was so big when he chased him back to Ireland the bridge crumbled into the sea leaving the formations seen. After hiking around we drove down the coast stopped at a beach with freezing cold water, which had just closed for the season, blimey can you imagine! Once we continued on our drive, we came across some castle ruins. The Dunluce castle was built on a cliff and looked as if it was going to crumble into the ocean any minute, breathtaking.
Travel:
We rented a car and drove up to Northern Ireland. The car was very expensive, and because they drive on the left side of the road all companies require you buy their insurance. We did it for both the experience and the freedom to adjust our itinerary.
Language:
Primary language is English.
Food:
I have not met anyone who goes to Great Britian for the food. However, You could enjoy the dairy, whiskey and pastries, but maybe not at the same time (or maybe you do, whatever). We stopped at the Wee Cottage to eat after reading their sign that said “Skinny people are easier to kidnap so come in and try our hot banana and toffee sauce muffins.” We got a chocolate torte and a pot of tea which was delicious to have while looking over a castle on the coast.
