I do not claim to be an expert, but here is what we have found to work for us for traveling. We believe it is not easy to travel with your little ones but it doesn’t have to be horribly complicated. Our ten month old has already been on 12 flights.
1. Leave the extra stuff at home.
2. Bring a change of clothes for blowouts, a couple diapers and some wipes.
3. Make it easy on yourself. Pay to check that bag. Check the car seat too!
4. Carry less in your hands. We use a wrap carrier for baby wearing and a backpack diaper bag.
5. Time naps: I purposely buy around naptime so she will sleep on the flight.
6. Breastfeed or bottle feed on the takeoff and landing to help those little ears adjust to pressure changes.
7. Consider convenience: Are you willing to pay more for nonstop?
8 Ignore the rude people who ask to move seats as soon as they see the baby in their row.
9. It can be expensive: even though we are not a fan of Frontiers nickel and dime approach, they do offer kids fry free flights occasionally.
10. Have fun!
